Vodacom Journalist of the Year 2007 04 November 2007 Mandla Khwela and Sandile Nzama of Radio Khwezi were joint winners of the national award this year in the category Community media. The judges said "they spread the news about people who are making a difference in communities. Their radio shows chronicle stories about people, progress and problems. They let the nation know about things that are working and things that aren't in communities.They look for unique insights or perspectives on life in communities". They both share the prize money of R10 000 Sandile won for his program 'Scandal, Ignorance and Corruption on HIV/Aids patients' and Mandla won for his program for the disabled 'Community-based rehabilitation'.
