AMARC Pan- African Community Radio Conference
18 - 22 April 2005

Radio Khwezi was presented with the Community Media Excellence Award at the 3rd Pan African Community Radio Conference held in Nairobi from 18-22 April. Our entry topped it's category on the theme HIV/AIDS which was produced by Irvin Sihlope, a news and current affairs journalist with Khwezi since April 2001.
The main objective of the Pan African Conference is to accord a platform triennially for members to gather and review and develop strategic plans to ensure that the benefits of globalization can reach marginalized communities.
The theme this year was "Content for the Sustainable Development of Community Radio in Africa". Attending were about 160 delegates from approximately 25 countries accross the continent as well as members from Belgium, Germany, USA, Canada and the UK.
