Radio Khwezi was invited to an extremely interesting event on Saturday 31 July
2004. A stout effort in bringing the different cultures of South Africa together was made
by the ATKV (Afrikaans Taal en Kultuur Vereen) in conjunction with the Department of Arts,
Culture and Tourism. Twenty different cultural groups decorated stalls depicting their
particular traditions and customs and the coordinators were dressed accordingly. Everyone
was then invited to give their taste buds a chance to experiment with the different types
of traditional food on offer. The experience was enjoyed by all!
The Minister of Arts, Culture and Tourism in Kwazulu Natal, Mr Narend Singh
attended the function and praised the organisers for bringing people of different cultures
together in an effort to help them to get to know and understand each other in the country
which we all share.
