LAUNCH OF OUR NEW ZULU PROGRAMME SCHEDULE
Every year we reconsider
our programme schedule to ensure that we are continually satisfying the needs of our
audience. This is done by the programming committee in collaboration with the Radio Khwezi
Listeners´ Club (Masibumbane).
The past two years saw
only slight changes, but this year we had so much input which led us to call a special
gathering to announce the changes.
Some important ones are:
SAKHA ISIZWE, our daily development slot which now plays at 19h10 an hour earlier than
before. This is mainly to accommodate our local municipal councils who want to come in
"live" with a talk show. USAPHO LWETHU our morning children's program has moved
from 7am to 9am. Local creches have asked for this to enable them to make the program part
of their lesson. Our morning church service LIPHUMILE IKHWEZI now plays at 05h30 and
CURRENT AFFAIRS comes in it's place straight after the 6am news. A new slot has been
created for Zulu cultural music which is called ISICATHAMIYA; this will be on a Saturday
evening at 20h40. Although this music is played throughout the day, we have succumbed to
requests from the community for it to have its own slot.
The gathering at which
these changes were announced, had a very festive mood. There was a lot of fun with prizes
to be won and refreshments afterwards. We had the special privilege of having our station
manager with us. Fano Sibisi has not been well recently and his presence and short
motivational speech brought tears of joy to many staff and community members.
The new schedule will be launched on
Wednesday 1st May.
