Radio Khwezi attends King Shaka Day celebrations

On 22 September 2001, great festivities were held in Stanger to celebrate King Shaka Day. This cultural day was revived by the Home Affairs Minister, Mangosuthu Buthelezi in 1972.

This year´s celebrations were attended not only by Zulus but people from other cultures as well as some from provinces other than Kwazulu Natal. The main speaker of the day was the King of the Zulus, King Goodwill Zulu. He urged the Zulus to unite and called on them to be a peaceful nation. He also confessed for the first time that Buthelezi is the traditional Prime Minister of the Zulu Nation and he awarded him the King Shaka Gold Medal. Other dignitaries present were the MEC for Health in the province, Dr Zweli Mkhize, the Primier of KZN, Lionel Mtshali, the Minister of Home Affairs, Mangosuthu Buthelezi and the King of the Zulus, King Goodwill Zulu.
