On Thursday 20 September 2001, Dr Zweli Mkhize, the Minister of Health, officiated the graduation of 22 nurses at the Chief Albert Luthuli Hospital in Cato Manor and delivered a key note speech. The nurses had completed a five week forensic training course.
The training is intended to equip nurse clinicians with excellent observation, assessment, clinical and communication skills and to provide them with prevention and rehabilitation expertise in dealing with violence as well as raped and abused women and children. The lecturer of the course was Virginia Lynch from the USA.
