A great favourite with Radio Khwezi listeners are these competitions where local gospel
choirs can take part. This week the competition was held at the KwaMondi Primary School in
Eshowe. Twenty nine choirs participated.
Mr Themba Zwane from Ladysmith, a well known composer of various songs, joined Mr Frazer
Cele in judging the choirs. The standard of music was very high which made the judges'
task rather difficult. The first prize was awarded to the īBread of Life Ministriesī
followed by a choir called `Fort Louis Godīs Followers`; and third position went to the
īLove of Godī choir. The choirs are very much attracted by the prizes that are offered:
the first prize is a free choir recording session at Radio Khwezi and a CD of the
recording; the second and third are money prizes, R500 and R250 respectively.
