A
Musical Evening with Paul and Marie-Paul Verstraeten.
On Saturday 30 June, Radio Khwezi presented the 6th concert in their live four
seasons series. The evening was well attended and studio D, in which it was recorded, was
packed to capacity with about 100 music enthusiasts.

The series in the "Skuins voor Middernag" timeslot of Radio Khwezi
Afrikaans is the brainchild of Heinrich Botes who was inspired by a young German by the
name of Christian Werner who plays the paino very well. Since then many artists have
performed in the series, of which Paul Verstraeten on the guitar and Marie-Paul on the
violin are the most recent. The Verstraetens are both music teachers in Belgium who have
just completed a one-year visit to South Africa.
The program for the evening consisted of items such as Johann Sebastian Bachs Sheep
may safely graze, Ludwig van Beethovens Sonatine and Massenets Meditation.
Music by Niccolo Paganini and Christian Gottlieb Scheidler also featured.
Paul on the classical guitar together with his wife on the violin performed exceptionally
well.
