Where is Radio Khwezi?

One of South Africa’s leading regional community radio stations, Radio Khwezi, has an electronic footprint, which now covers most of the KwaZulu/Natal Midlands.

Radio Khwezi now boasts two transmitters with a 10-Kilowatt signal beamed from Greytown, on 90.5 FM and a 1-Kilowatt signal beamed from Eshowe, on 107.7 FM.

Field surveys indicate that Radio Khwezi delivers an audience estimated at between 3% and 10% of the population in its reception area. This gives us between 90 000 and 300 000 listeners a day.

Community radio stations fill a valuable new role in that, for the first time, South Africans are able to listen to local radio, radio which is part of the local community; be that community a small town, a city or part of a city, for instance, a university campus.

Khwezi is more than a community radio station – it is a regional community station, which has covered much of the following areas: (see thumbnail)
